A Very Lucky Customer
Hello Folks! I'm back with Part 2 of the Federal Pacific (FP) Panel story. I told you last month about the recall that has existed on FP panels. Many times its easy to just write about problems that happen to other people. However, if you look at the picture to the left, you can see how personal this issue can become.
I received a call a few days ago from a customer that had lost all his power. They had been on vacation for a few weeks and when they returned home, they found this scorched outlet in their kitchen. After investigation, I quickly learned that they had a Federal Pacific panel. What happened was that a breaker in the panel did not "trip" and the outlet shorted. A deep freezer was plugged into the outlet and they lost several hundred dollars of food. My customer was sad about losing all their food. However, I told them that they were extremely lucky as most of these shorts end much worse...burning the house down. I installed a new panel and breakers and took care of the affected outlets.
Do me a favor, check all of your electrical panels to see if you have an FP panel. If you do, pick up the phone and call me for answers. I am here to help.
