So, I was thinking about something that my last customer told me. She stated that in the past, she had used an electrician that asked for payment up front on service work. She asked me if I also needed money up front. I told her that I never ask for payment up front on electrical service work. Although I could ask for payment up front, I believe that I demonstrate integrity and inspire confidence in my customers to get the job done right the first time.
Opinions do vary on this topic. It's almost like eating out. When you eat at a fast food restaurant, you pay up front, then eat. At better restaurants, you eat, then pay. So, it's not a matter of right or wrong, it's just a matter of the quality and level of service you expect and should get when you hire an electrician. Do you want a fast food experience, or a quality meal in a comfortable environment at a fair price? I have never had a recommendation to eat at a fast food restaurant. I have been referred many times to restaurants that serve good food, with good service, at a fair price.
So, I have chosen to not to ask for payment up front on service work. My plan is to work in such a manner as to earn your business along with your referrals to your friends and family. All at a fair price. Give me a call, I'll answer the phone personally.
I have provided a link with a discussion about payment up front for services that you might find interesting: Up Front Money?
Until next time,
